This work explores how the self is perceived through mediated images.

While walking home at night, the artist noticed her shadow projected onto a blank signboard illuminated by passing car lights. In the darkness, it becomes difficult to perceive one’s own body, and this projected image functions as a temporary means of confirming one’s existence.

However, the image is unstable—its size and outline constantly shift, overlap with others, and disappear as the light fades.

Through this phenomenon, the work reflects on the ways in which the image of the self is recognized, while also revealing the uncertainty of such an image.

この作品は、媒介された像を通して自己がどのように知覚されるのかを扱っている。

私は夜の帰路の中で、通り過ぎる車のライトによって自身の影が空白の看板に投影されていることに気がついた。自身の身体を認識しづらくなる暗闇の中で、この投影された像は一時的に自己の存在を確認する手段として機能する。

しかし、その像は不安定であり、大きさや輪郭は絶えず変化し、他者の影と重なり、光が消えるとともに消失する。

この現象を通して本作は、自己の像を認識する方法について考察すると同時に、その像の不確かさを表してもいる。
